Google the word cupcake and you’ll get about 12 million hits.  Cupcakes - called fairy cake in England – are arguably America’s favorite treat.  And trendy cupcake shops are popping up across the nation.

Cupcakes are a staple at children’s birthday parties and, in recent years, a popular substitute for the traditional wedding cake.

Cupcakes are also one of the first things kids learn to make in the kitchen.   Elizabeth Werner and kids celebrated their love of cupcakes at Times Square Toys R Us – making batches of the delicious treats.

She has tips for dressing up cupcakes for special holidays, including Halloween.  The kids used bakeware called Girl Gourmet, which is designed especially for children.
