4Ultrabook era inspired by Intel …

Ultrabook – a new category of devices inspired by Intel – represents a leap forward in the mobile computing experience. Thinner, lighter, longer battery life, incredible responsiveness, and more secure designs than ever before make Ultrabook the “must-have” device this year. More than 75 Ultrabook designs – and growing – are in the pipeline for 2012.  One key feature of Ultrabook devices – like the Toshiba Portege Z830 w/ Intel Core i5 processor technology pictured above – is the Intel Rapid Start Technology that gets the system up and running faster from even the deepest sleep, saving time and battery life. The PC wakes up almost instantly, enabling quick access to your data and applications.  An Ultrabook does everything – runs all the software you know and love, plays movies, provides eight hours of battery life and is very easy to interact with. As a bonus, it’s thin, light and sexy. The Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook has a 0.63-inch profile, weighs less than 2.5 pounds, has up to 6GB of memory, a backlit and spill-resistant keyboard, and is powered by the 2nd generation Intel Core processor for an optimal blend of responsiveness and performance.

5Aluminum - cool and hot…

One of the biggest trends in consumer electronics over the past few years continues at CES 2012:  the use of aluminum just continues to grow.  In fact, according to Alcoa, the largest aluminum company in the world, the use of aluminum in this market is expected to grow 46% in the next few years.  It’s no wonder.  Aluminum  is lightweight and durable (some are using aerospace grade aluminum allows), allows for great finishes, looks bright and contemporary, and dissipates heat so consumers can keep that laptop on their laps – some of those plastic or steel ones get too hot.  Best of all, it is 100% recyclable.  In fact, Alcoa is a part of a JV called ERI that recycles 100% of the components of a consumer electronic item – from TV’s to laptops to iPods.
